About Me

ABOUT ME

I am deeply passionate about therapeutic work, having experienced my own healing in therapy through overcoming an eating disorder.

This experience I had in working with a therapist is something I am truly grateful for and showed me that when we take the courage to look within ourselves, understand what is hindering us, and work with someone else to overcome our adversities, healing is possible. Having had this opportunity, I wish to help others find peace and passion in their lives that I have been so fortunate to find.

I have 4 years of experience working in various capacities to support individuals in their healing. In addition to my clinical training, I am a Co-Founder for the podcast, “Befriending the Body”, which provides both psychoeducation about how body image ideals are adopted and manifested into individual’s lives and educates about how the practice of embodiment can be applied to help individuals overcome these issues. I am also deeply passionate about research in the field of Counselling Psychology and have worked on various studies examining the experience of newcomers to Canada in addition to studies examining the families of individuals suffering from eating disorders.

I find enjoyment for all things that connect me to this world, others, and myself. I am grateful to live in beautiful British Columbia and cherish each day spent exploring nature through activities such as running, hiking, skiing, and swimming in the ocean. I value the beautiful conversations and time spent with my friends, family, and colleagues, as well as my time spent alone reflecting and pondering my appreciation for this world and my life. I take pride in experiences that cultivate my sensory experience such as trying new food, listening to soulful music, and moving my body through, running, yoga and dance.

My Approach

MY APPROACH

In my practice, I strive to create a space that honours the uniqueness and individuality of each of my client’s experience with warmth and compassion.

I value the true courage it takes to look within oneself, understand what is hindering us, and work to overcome our adversities and I consider it a true honour to support you in your healing journey.

To me, each client is the expert in their experience and I value a collaborative approach in which each client is provided the freedom and non-judgmental space to explore their goals and how they wish to accomplish them freely and openly. My practice is grounded in existential analysis as I believe deeply connecting with one’s self, values, and emotions provides the grounding for supporting individuals in finding meaning and authenticity to bring more of themselves into how they live their lives. I also believe in drawing upon specific therapeutic strategies from emotion focused, cognitive and dialectical, as well as feminist and narrative approaches to meet each client where they are at. I am deeply moved by the human experience and my goal in working with each client is that you feel deeply seen, heard, and safe to tell your story in a supportive and non-judgmental space. I wish you the courage to take this step for yourself and look forward to working with you.
